The Simpson Strong-Tie SS3 Stud Shoe is designed to reinforce double nominal 2x studs that have been notched or drilled during construction, commonly to accommodate plumbing waste lines and other penetrations. Constructed from 16-gauge galvanized steel, the SS3 installs around pipe up to 2-3/8" outside diameter and helps strengthen the affected wall framing. Its 3-1/16" width is specifically sized for double 2x stud configurations.
