THE SCHNEIDER XWMPPT80-600 is the first solar charge controller to use input voltages up to 600 volts DC.

Higher voltage array configurations minimize the overall amperage of the array, dramatically reducing the size of the wire needed to transmit the power from the array to the charge controller. This can allow for array positioning at much further distances than typically considered, with huge savings in the transmission wire cost.

It can be used with PV arrays with voltages ranging from 195 to 550 VDC and can support an output of up to 80 amps into the battery for battery voltages of 24 or 48 VDC. The PV open circuit voltage must not exceed 600 VDC. With a maximum of 80 amps output, a single charge controller can handle array sizes up to 4,600+ watts on a 48 volt battery bank.

The XW charge controllers are the best selection to use in conjunction with an XW inverter intended for grid-tie, net-metering applications. Schneider’s proprietary Enhanced Interactive operating mode is the most efficient operating solution to balance battery charging, household loads, and selling to the grid.

Any DC circuit breakers or fusing on the solar array side of the controller (solar disconnect and/or combiner box) must be rated for high voltages of 600 volts.

The XW controllers have a configurable auxiliary output to drive a relay for load control or to turn on devices such as a vent fan or indicator alarm. Auxiliary output can be configured to perform only one function at a time. Built in PV ground fault protection allows code-compliant installation without the need for additional ground fault protection. Standby and night-time power draws less than one watt.
